Pizza Zero Waste – The Protagonists

Food waste is a major issue at both global and United Arab Emirates levels, it challenges environmental health, sustainability, and food security. In Dubai alone, 38% of prepared food is wasted, a figure that rises to 60% during Ramadan. Food alone makes up about 40% of the average household’s waste. “PIZZA ZERO WASTE” is an awareness campaign by UAE Green Star Pizza Restaurants, part of the Gulfood preview of the Italian Cuisine World Summit, focusing on how to reduce waste to zero, recycle leftovers and reuse materials, at both restaurants and at home. Not by chance the campaign, promoted by Sustainable UAE eating and supported by royati charity association, will be launched on 18 February 2025, in concomitance with Gulfood 2025, a truly global food fair, on the eve of Ramadan. Some of the most talented pizza chefs in town will take part into it, as Giuseppe Marrapodi of Lunarossa Dubai, a leading founding partners of the initiative.
